Boca Raton, FL – Grey Team, in partnership with ChillShark, has officially launched an innovative Cold Water Immersion Study aimed at exploring the benefits of cold plunging for military veterans.
This research initiative is designed to examine how exposure to cold water can aid in reducing stress, improving mental resilience, and enhancing overall well-being for those who have served.
What is Cold Water Immersion?
Cold water immersion, commonly known as cold plunging, has been gaining attention for its potential to lower inflammation, regulate the nervous system, and provide relief for individuals experiencing PTSD, anxiety, and other invisible wounds of war. As part of Grey Team’s Operation Apollo wellness program, this study integrates cutting-edge biohacking techniques to support veteran recovery in new and effective ways.
“Our goal is to provide veterans with tools that go beyond traditional therapy,” said David Kirkland, CEO of Grey Team. “Through this study, we’re gathering real-world data on how cold plunging impacts stress levels, heart rate variability, and mental clarity. The preliminary feedback from participants has been incredibly promising.”
Participants in the study have already begun sharing their personal experiences, with many reporting increased energy, reduced anxiety, and improved focus after just a few sessions.
“After my first cold plunge, I felt an immediate change—like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders,” said one veteran currently enrolled in the program. “It’s not just about the physical benefits; it’s about mental resilience and pushing through discomfort in a way that translates to everyday life.”

Research suggests that exposure to cold water can stimulate the vagus nerve, which plays a key role in regulating stress responses. Additionally, cold immersion has been linked to:
- Improved circulation & reduced inflammation.
- Enhanced recovery from physical training.
- Increased dopamine & endorphin release for mood improvement.
- Strengthened mental resilience through controlled stress exposure.
